Dickson Billie
Billie Dickson
I began painting “just for fun” in the early 1970’s. An elderly neighbor asked me to join her for a class with Ralph Creager – she thought it would be a good place to learn how to use watercolor, and it was. I learned the basics: value, line, washes, and shapes. I was amazed what could be accomplished with one brush, one tube of Payne’s gray, and some paper. I set out on a journey that still amazes me today.
I studied a long time with Jean May and then with Diane Coyle at Kettering Adult School. I’ve also studied with MaryAnn Boysen, Fred Leach, Emerick Malagorski, Donna Zagotta, Feiling Lin, Frank Francese, Judi Betts, Nita Leland, and Gerald Brommer. Each has helped me bring new and exciting elements to my work.
I am currently a member of Fairborn Art Association and an active member of Western Ohio Watercolor Society. I have won awards in juried shows sponsored by Tri Art, Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors, and Fairborn Art Association. My first love is still transparent watercolor, and yes, it is still fun.
