HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FEBRUARY 2010 MEETING
Lori Luckner announced that Warren Brown is our new Chair for the Fairborn Sweet Corn Festival in August. Go to http://www.fairbornsweetcornfestival.org for the latest information on the Sweet Corn Festival. Lori will continue to maintain the Sweet Corn Festival website as well as help out as needed on the Committee. Don't forget this is our major fund raising event each year. It's how we pay for our beautiful Gallery, fund our scholarships, and pay for other events in which we participate. Look for opportunities to sign up to help at the Festival. We will have the Watermelon booth, as usual, and a tent to display members' artwork for sale.
Jim McCoy announced that he will be appointing a Committee to nominate people for the Election of Officers in May. Let Jim know if you are interested in serving on the Committee or in being a candidate for an office.
New members and visitors were introduced.
We broke for refreshments—some really delicious snacks and desserts prepared by our member volunteers.
Then Cyndy Jividen presented some of her unique art. First a display of some of her puppets and marionettes. Then a short display of the art of Sumi-e (the Japanese art of ink painting). Then followed her main presentation—reverse painting on glass, practiced from early times to create lovely paintings on the inside of a glass object or pane. See the Photo section for pictures of her presentations from the meeting.
Please don't miss our next meeting on March 2, 2010. One of our own members, Clarice Moore, will be the speaker. More to come.
