SEPTEMBER 2010 NEWSLETTER

Dear Members and Patrons,

Can you believe that summer is almost over! Did you find time to create Art? I hope that your summer has been more artistically productive than mine. I will be very glad to trade my fence painting brush for my watercolor brush as the weather gets cooler.

As I write this message the Sweet Corn Festival is in progress. Our club owes many thanks to the able leadership of Warren Brown, Lori Luckner, Sue and Loren Red, and Jane Trame who make such a huge undertaking feasible. Also many thanks to the members who worked to mark the field Thursday, and manned the information booth, the watermelon booth, and the vendor parking.

As your newly elected president, I am looking forward to working with the wonderful officers and chairpersons who volunteer their time and talents for F.A.A. I hope that I can follow in the footsteps of Jim McCoy who so ably led the club for four years. I trust that he will give me his expert advice and help when I need it. I have found the F.A.A. to be the most friendly group of talented people, and I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the meetings.

Over the summer two members have agreed to be committee chairpersons for the 2010-11 year. Billie Dickson will share the Publicity Chairman duties with Denise Ferguson, and Robert Beireis will be our Historian.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. The board will meet at 6 p.m.

Our September guest speaker, Suzanne Pusecker, makes sculptural vessels combining felting and knitting. I am excited to hear her speak after seeing her very interesting artwork online. At the September meeting you can also purchase a few frames that the F.A.A. has had stored. Please come and bring a friend.

Sincerely,
Rose Schultz
President

SEPTEMBER SPEAKER–SUZANNE PUSECKER, FELT SCULPTING
Suzanne Pusecker has had about a 50-year career working in stained glass, needlework, and photography. When she retired 5 years ago she was immediately captivated by knitting and felting. She begin to knit and felt sculptural vessels, wall hangings, and other items which pushed the normal boundaries of felt and knitting. She is essentially self-taught but has found workshops and wonderful mentors that have enabled her to expand her techniques. She has done many exhibits, all over Ohio.

NEWS FROM GAYLE BEIREIS, GALLERY COORDINATOR
Fellow members, even though I have now happily taken over the job of Vice President and I hope to do a good job for you, I'm reminding you that I'm still the Gallery Coordinator as well. A part of my job as Gallery Coordinator is to see that there are no schedule conflicts in the gallery. I need the help of the instructors. Most of you have been accustomed to dealing with others regarding this. So please when scheduling your classes you should call me at 937-390-1992 or 937-207-9046 or email me the information at artwoman2@att.net This will help you to get it into the newsletter and to avoid mix ups.

It seems hard to believe that a year has gone by so fast. I must now ask you to think ahead, 2011 will be here before you know it. As you may have heard, there is money to be made in our Gallery by just having your own Art show, and it is fun too. Patty Tateman and I did very well this past April. So, come on, get together with a friend or two and put on an Art Show of your own. We had lots of fun and lots of our friends and family came, as well as strangers, too!. We have February, April, October, & November open for 2011. So please give me a call.
